How Under Decking Works

Under decking uses aluminum panels installed below your deck joists to capture rainwater and redirect it away from the area underneath. This creates a finished ceiling below the deck while keeping the space dry and usable.

Aluminum panels attach to a carrier system mounted below your deck framing. This creates a clean finished ceiling that stays hidden from the deck above and looks polished from the space below.

Water Is Redirected

When rain passes through the deck boards, the under-decking system catches it and channels water toward a perimeter gutter and drain spout, directing it away from your patio, foundation, and landscaping.

The Quality Edge Inside Out® system is designed to capture and redirect water effectively, creating a consistently dry area below the deck. It works best when installed with the gutter and drain components that direct water away from the space.

How long does installation take?

Most under-decking installations can be completed in one to two days depending on the size of your deck. We’ll give you a specific timeframe during your estimate.

Does it come in different colors?

Yes, the Quality Edge Inside Out® system is available in 13 colors, including solid tones like white, black, clay, and pewter, plus realistic wood grain finishes like medium teak, rock maple, and dark mahogany.

Does under decking require maintenance?

Very little. The aluminum panels don’t need repainting and are designed to hold up to outdoor conditions long-term. The panels are removable if you ever need to clean out debris.

Is under decking covered by a warranty?
